The Music Factory

How would you describe your music?

I’m a commercial soundtrack composer – which means one day it’s opera and the next it’s disco. Musically I’m somewhat of a Chameleon. My projects are varied and my studio is the big box of Crayolas, so it’s all about telling a story, supporting a picture, or capturing an emotion.

What computer and audio hardware do you use?

Synths & Samplers by Roland, Korg, Moog, Access, Waldorf, E-Mu, Hohner, Yamaha, Studio Electronics, Kurzweil, Novation, Akai, Casio, Oberheim, and Dave Smith.

Drum Machines by Linn, Oberheim, Korg, Roland, Kawai, Yamaha, Akai, and Native Instruments.

Things with strings by Fender, Modulus, Music Man, Line6, Yamaha and Martin.

Pre’s / Converters by Avalon, Focusrite, Lucid, and Motu.

Monitoring by Quested powered by Bryston.

A couple of Macs, a couple of PeeCees, and all sorts of other toys.

What software and samples do you use?

Motu Digital Performer runs the show. Softsynths, plugs and sample libraries by all the usual suspects.

What would be your dream studio setup?

I have my dream studio – well, except for the swimming pool :)

Wonderful studio – kind of “busy” looking. How the hell do you relax there, though, with every space part of a command module? Still – great music is made here. Best of luck to you in your future composing.

  3. Terrific post however , I was wondering if you could write
a litte more on this topic? I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit more. Kudos!
