How would you describe your music?

My music is highly influenced by classical Latin American music and the music of contemporary film and concert composers. Although I rely a lot on rhythmic textures and minimalist patterns, I always use melodic material as the driving force behind the music. Think of a mixture between Has Zimmer, John Adams and Gustavo Santaolalla.
What computer and audio hardware do you use?: I use two MAC Pro computers, one running the latest version of Logic and one running the latest version of Pro Tools. I use an Apogee Ensemble and a Digidesign 003 Rack unit for recording and AD-DA conversion. The outboard gear rack includes a Distressor, an Universal Audio M610 pre-amp, two Chandler Limited Germanium Pre-amps and two Chandler Limited Equalizers.

What software and samples do you use?

My main DAWs are Logic and Pro Tools. I tend to compose to picture in Logic and finish the mixing and mastering in Pro Tools. I use Universal Audio software plug-ins, each of the computers has a UAD-2 and a UAD-1 card. I also use the Waves Diamond bundle and several SSL plug-ins. Additionally, I make extensive use of the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server system so I can operate both computers in tandem when required. Sample libraries include the several volumes of the Vienna Ensemble libraries, the East West Symphonic libraries, Symphobia, BFD 2 and Kontakt.

What would be your dream studio setup?

My dream set up would require a studio designed from top to bottom to maximize physical space and the acoustic quality of the studio. Any ideal studio should have a large enough and isolated vocal booth and a raised level for recording of drum sets or small ensembles. I prefer to mix and work in-the-box, therefore the core of the studio would still be one or two powerful MAC desktops computers running Logic and Pro Tools, as well as an assortment of Waves and Universal Audio plug-ins. To complement the software, I would love to have two large racks of outboard gear including a variety of analog pre-amps, compressors and equalizers by Manley, Universal Audio, SSL and API. These would be used at the recording stage or to add color and character during mixing and mastering.
